THE ARCHIPELAGO A storm-battered chain of islands enclosed by a colossal Wall and sustained by generations of dredgers hauling basalt across dangerous seas. Life is measured in quotas, rations and obedience; beyond the Wall lie the forbidden waters of the Hazard Line, while within it every Descendant is taught that survival depends upon Deep. Rusting machinery, failing infrastructure and an unfinished Wall hint that the protected world may not be as secure—or as truthful—as it appears.
DEEP Protector, overseer and unquestioned authority. Deep governs the Archipelago, assigns its work and promises safety from the chaos beyond the Wall. Its rule is enforced by its loyal troops, the Eyes. To the Descendants, one truth has been taught above all others: Vigilance is Faith. Trust is Deep.
